Cleaned the chicken coop with bleach again and added straw. Cleaned the stall where the sheep are currently housed, cleaned the chick's coop (not so little, but still cheeping instead of making hen noises), and built them a little run - still inside the tack room, but at least they have more room - put tons of old feed bags down and a thick layer of straw to catch droppings. Cleaned the horse stall - but that's a normal every day sort of thing.
Did laundry, but still procrastinating on cleaning the house...only three days until my parents are here, so I really need to get to it. My husband rearranged the living room, and I think it looks like the house is a listing boat - all the furniture ended up on one side of a rather skinny room, but he also dusted and cleaned it thoroughly, so that was nice.
Of course, all the things he didn't think belonged there ended up on the kitchen table....
It is fairly late in the afternoon, but I am going to start my baking. I have chicken luau (taro leaves and chicken and coconut milk) cooking in the crock pot, and a couple of loads in the laundry. I will have to figure out the cleaning part later.
Unfortunately, my 18 year old is at work, and the other three have piles of homework. They got their chores done (well, all but one kid), but they can't help with the extra stuff - 150 pages of AP World History reading is no joke.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Oh my, oh my, you work real hard Nan! Don't forget to reward yourself, sometime,k. It's good to have visitors, so the hubby can be spurred to at least rearrange things...
That taro sounds like our yam curry
Thanks, Grandpa! Would love to have the recipe for yam curry! This is just taro leaves and chicken cooked til they fall apart and then add coconut milk. No curry in it - but I like curry with coconut milk and a little fish sauce, too.
Can't wait until my parents get here - looking forward to it, and it is worth all the work to get ready!
Went outside to feed animals and the blueberry muffins burnt. Sigh. The outside is crispy (and the house smells like burnt bread) but the inside is still good. I wonder if chickens like charred blueberry. I will have to do a better job on the sandwich rolls.
Wow. Cleaned the coop with bleach! I've never done that in my life. Has there been a problem, or are you just a very preventative-medicine-conscious chicken keeper?
One thing I noticed when I moved from an area of 20 inches of rain a year to 45 inches, was that the parasites, fungi, and other microscopic enemies increased in number greatly. I bet that must be another item you have to deal with with so much rain.
I bet your rearranged room is very... functional. LOL How sweet of him to want to improve the floorplan. :o)

I had a sick hen who died a few weeks ago, and I was just making sure I got the bug.
We have so much mold and the organisms that cause thrush, etc. etc. It is the one thing (besides being away from home) I don't enjoy much. And we have bugs all year round....
I too was wondering about the bleach, Faith beat me to the punch. The answer makes sense.
Yes, I am not as compulsive as bleaching the chicken coop sounds - just want to add my new little hens when they get big enough and don't want them to get sick.
Baking update: my whole wheat sandwich rolls came out really well - a salve to my baking conscience after charring the blueberry muffins. Faith, in addition to my long recipe I sent you - I added bulgar wheat to the dry ingredients - really yummy. Also, if your bread isn't rising as high as you want, you might consider making the rolls instead.
